Featuring Jim Woolsey, Chelsea Sexton, Larry Brilliant and others, this video describes plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, vehicle to grid (V2G) as part of Google.org's rechargeit project.
One of my favorites songs of muse. Lyrics: I've exposed your lies, baby The underneath's no big surprise And now it's time For changing And cleansing everything To forget your love My plug in baby Crucifies my enemies When I'm tired of giving Woah, my plug in baby In unbroken virgin realities Is tired of living Oooh... Don't confuse Baby you're gonna lose Your own game Change me Replace the envying To forget your love My plug in baby Crucifies my enemies When I'm tired of giving Woah, my plug in baby In unbroken virgin realities Is tired of living Oooh... And I've seen your loving And mine is gone And I've been in trouble Woaaah...
Google Tech Talks June 24, 2008 ABSTRACT Eclipse Day at the Googleplex Speaker: Chris Aniszczyk, Code9 Plug-ins are everywhere in Eclipse so come learn about how to develop them! Depending on the audience, for the first half of the talk, I will discuss what a plug-in is and what tooling is provided around developing plug-ins. For the second half, I will discuss tips and tricks that can save you time in developing plug-ins and will also talk about some lesser known, but extremely useful, parts of PDE. About Chris Aniszczyk: Chris Aniszczyk is the technical lead for the Plug-in Development Environment (PDE) project at Eclipse. Chris also commits on various other Eclipse projects, has the honor to represent the committers on the Eclipse Board of Directors and sits on the Eclipse Architecture Council. Chris's passions are blogging, software advocacy, tooling and anything Eclipse. He's always available to discuss open-source or Eclipse over a frosty beverage.
Google Tech Talk June 24, 2009 ABSTRACT photosketch: A Google sketchup Plugin for Photo-Centric 3D Modeling Presented by Prof. George Wolberg Dept. of Computer Science City College of New York This talk presents the photosketch urban 3D modeling plugin for Google sketchup. photosketch is designed to make it easy for sketchup users to build phototextured 3D models of buildings directly from photographs. We simplify the 3D modeling workflow by leveraging the sketchup push-pull interface with computer vision and photogrammetry techniques. The photosketch plugin merges the benefits of automatic feature extraction, camera pose recovery, an intuitive sketching interface, and advanced texture mapping with occlusion detection to produce lightweight photorealistic 3D models of buildings. These models typically consist of a few hundred polygons each, which makes them well-suited for use in high-performance visualization, online gaming, and web-based applications such as Google Earth. This video inaugurates a new series, that will augment, but not replace, "Climate Denial Crock of the Week". Many people seem to think dealing with climate change will bring poverty and limit human development. The truth may be exactly the opposite. Moving to a world of where we aren't fighting each other over the last few drops of oil, where energy is free, will mean a better life, with greater opportunities even for an expanding population. If we make the right decisions, we could be on the verge of the most prosperous period in human history. Climate Denial Crocks will be back soon to tweak trolls and ding deniers. www.ferc.gov www.environmentamerica.org www.udel.edu www.udel.edu newenergynews.blogspot.com climateprogress.org
FREE iphone! tinyurl.com Among "green" car owners, the OEM plug-in hybrid, or "PHEV", is seen as the next evolutionary step in auto efficiency. phev's plug into a source of electricity to recharge their batteries, then travel on pure electric power for a distance and get fuel efficiency ratings in the 100+ MPG range afterwards, thus reducing gasoline consumption, and significantly reducing pollution as well (even when the electricity comes from coal plants). Toyota released this video shortly after getting permission from the Japanese government to test drive their prototype PHEV on public roads. So far, no other company is this far along in development of a PHEV, though Chevy is trying to develop their "Volt" concept, and Ford wants an electric vehicle by 2010 as well.
A video by Plug-in Partners promoting the many benefits of Plugin Hybrids Electric Vehicles. If the current US vehicle fleet were replaced overnight with phevs, oil consumption would decrease by 70 to 90 percent, eliminating the need for oil imports and leaving the US self-sufficient in oil for many years to come. Even if the electrical power for those vehicles were drawn from coal-fired power plants, CO2 emissions would drop by more than half. If the power were produced by renewable energy sources, and the fuel in the tank were biodiesel or ethanol, the proposition gets exponentially better. And you can get 100+ MPG!
Google Tech Talks August 28, 2008 ABSTRACT This presentation will highlight the new capabilities available to the applet developer, including integrated JNLP support, per-applet control over Java virtual machine command-line arguments and Java Runtime Environment version selection, a rewritten Java/javascript bridge, revised support for accessing and modifying the DOM, crossdomain.xml support, and more. Multiple demonstrations will illustrate the new possibilities available to the developer. Speaker: Ken Russell Ken Russell is the architect of the new Java Plug-In at Sun Microsystems. His background and interests include high-performance 3D graphics and dynamic languages, especially the Java programming language. He holds a Bachelor's degree in CS/EE from MIT and a Master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the Media Lab, MIT.
