In a new two-year study on dieting, the low-carb Atkins diet had the most weight loss and lowest cholesterol levels. But other approaches had other benefits, reports Dr. Jon LaPook.
From the README file: "lowfat is an "engine" for natural document viewing for free desktop-systemslowfat is far from done. So do not package it or something similar. It wouldimply to end-users that it is a "finished product", which it is not yet... by far not.So for the sake of lowfat's reputation, please do not package it yet. It'sonly for developers atm."I saw this program has being discussed in forum.beryl-project.org and then rushed to give it a try and love it so much.Macslow is an open source program developer who owns the creation of Macslow's cairo-clock and some other fantastic apps.I believe this is one of his new/current projects and it is still worked hard to become more stable and bug free (with more abilities, too).I has tested it for a few hours and there are still some bugs in it and more important it consumes a LOT OF MEMORY which is the reason why the video looks kind of laggy.Beside of the problems it is a really nice program and able to do lots of fancy stuff which I have never seen in any applications on any platforms (ya, you guys need to do some catching up, OSX & Google). In the end, I hope you guys who want to give it a try be aware of that this program is still unstable and can break your entire system (really ^^). Since it is not even in beta, do not expect any support from the devs or anybody else. Try it , on you own risk, or wait.My Linux box: Intel centrino 1.74 G with 1.5 Gigabyte ram and NVIDIA geforce 6200 go vcard.Ubuntu 6.10
http://www.LeeHayward.comHere is one of my favourite healthy treat recipes High protein ice cream!Ill mix the following in the blender:1 cup of egg whites10-20 frozen strawberries depending on the size (you can also add in other frozen fruit of your choice)2-3 scoops of vanilla whey protein2 tablespoonfuls of SplendaBlend it up until it has a consistency like frozen yoghurt. Youll most likely have to stop and stir up the frozen fruit a couple times to get it to mix well because it is so thick.Give it a try and then post a comment to let me know how you like it.

Fats...the Real StoryMost people would be surprised to learn that there is, in fact, very little evidence to support the contention that a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat actually reduces death from heart disease or in any way increases one's life span.Fats from animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in the diet; they also provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormone like substances. Fats as part of a meal slow down absorption so that we can go longer without feeling hungry. In addition, they act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Dietary fats are needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and for a host of other processes. The cause of heart disease is not animal fats and cholesterol but rather a number of factors inherent in modern diets, including excess consumption of vegetables oils and hydrogenated fats; excess consumption of refined carbohydrates in the form of sugar and white flour; mineral deficiencies, particularly low levels of protective magnesium and iodine; deficiencies of vitamins, particularly of vitamin C, needed for the integrity of the blood vessel walls, and of antioxidants like selenium and vitamin E, which protect us from free radicals; and, finally, the disappearance of antimicrobial fats from the food supply, namely, animal fats and tropical oils. These once protected us against the kinds of viruses and bacteria that have been associated with the onset of pathogenic plaque leading to heart disease.Etc, etc.
