http://www.corinnebaileyrae.net'I'd Like To' demonstrates a different side to Corinne. More reminiscent of the playful pop of 'Put Your Records On' than the angelic beauty of 'Like A Star' it is both a nostalgic glimpse back to Corinne's early years growing up amongst summer parties and heatwaves and a sensual song of desire, "hoping that the boys will call for me". An uptempo soul stomp 'I'd Like To' is one of the highlights of Corinne's critically acclaimed, multi-million selling debut album and a firm live favourite.
This unlikely trio astounded the audience at the 2007 Grammys. Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend, and John Mayer took the stage together and each artist sang one of their songs while being accompanied by the other two. Rae started with "Like A Star" followed by a gorgeous "Coming Home" by John Legend. Rae harmonizing on the chorus with Legend was chill-inducing and brought me to tears. The medley ended with "Gravity" by John Mayer, who performed a wicked guitar solo before picking up the Grammy for best male pop vocal album.
After seeing John and Corinne play together with John Mayer at the 2006 Grammys, I had hoped for some kind of duet this night. They did not disappoint, and played a song that won a Grammy for Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway back in 1972 - Where is the Love. And they sounded great doing it. Filmed 7 April 2007 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California.
sometimes people can sing their souls. this song makes me cry imagining a dreamy girl singing under the shining star, staring down the city lights beside her window.
